What is Night Desk?
Night Desk is an Australian subscription service that gives hotels and motels an after-hours lockout response. When a guest is locked out, they call the Night Desk number, and a licensed patrol officer or locksmith arrives at the property in under 10 minutes to let them back in. The hotel receives a clean incident report the next morning. There is no lock-in contract.
How are partner patrols and locksmiths vetted?
Every partner — patrol company or locksmith — holds a current Australian licence in the state they operate in, carries public liability and professional indemnity cover, and runs national police checks on every responder rostered to Night Desk shifts. We re-verify licences quarterly and remove any partner that lapses, has a complaint upheld, or misses two consecutive response promises.
What happens if response is slower than 10 minutes?
The under-10-minute promise is a hard one for us. On Plus and Group plans, any call-out where the responder doesn't reach your door inside ten minutes is automatically refunded that month — and you'll see it itemised on your invoice. We also send you a short note explaining why, because we'd rather you knew than wondered.
Who carries insurance and liability for the call-out?
The partner — patrol company or locksmith — that attends the call-out carries primary professional indemnity and public liability cover for what their responder does on site. Night Desk additionally holds an aggregator-level policy for the dispatch service and guest-handling protocol. You can request the certificates of currency at signup.

How does the guest actually reach Night Desk?
You're given a dedicated Australian number that you print on your key cards, after-hours door sign, and confirmation emails. The line is staffed overnight by an Australian dispatcher (not an offshore call centre, not a bot) who answers in under thirty seconds, verifies the guest against your booking list, and gets the right responder — patrol officer or locksmith — moving.
What do we need to give you at signup?
Address and after-hours access notes (gate codes, lockbox locations, master-key cabinet), your duty-manager contact tree, and a way for us to read your booking list each evening — most properties send a nightly export from their PMS, or we pull it via API for Cloudbeds, RMS, SiteMinder and Little Hotelier. Most properties are live within forty-eight hours of signing up.
